Questions, answered

About the music, choosing a format, and getting started.

Ask a question
What is sound therapy, and how does Steven’s music support it?

Steven composes with tone, time, space, silence and gentle brainwave entrainment to help evoke the body’s natural relaxation response and support mindful, stress-reducing states. Many albums are tuned to A=432 Hz, a pitch some listeners find especially soothing.

What is the difference between alpha and theta?

Alpha is associated with relaxed alertness, mindful awareness, enhanced focus, concentration, meditation and feelings of inner peace.

Theta supports deeper meditation, healing, creativity and balancing of body, mind and spirit.

Explore DEEP ALPHA and DEEP THETA to hear the difference. Please do not listen to DEEP THETA while driving.

Which format should I choose—MP3 download or CD?

CDs and MP3s are both available on many titles. MP3 downloads deliver instantly and are non-refundable, while physical CDs can be exchanged or refunded within 30 days (shipping not included); defective CDs are covered.

Do I need headphones?

Speakers are great for ambient listening, but for tracks featuring brainwave entrainment/binaural components you’ll get the most benefit with stereo headphones. Several guides and album notes recommend headphones for deeper meditation and to hear subtle details.

Where should a new listener start?

A popular entry point is Sound Healing 432 (a best-of collection). Steven also recommends DEEP ALPHA and DEEP THETA 2.0 for meditation and relaxation.

May I use this music in classes, therapy sessions, videos, or other professional settings?

For personal listening, purchase as usual. For commercial/public use (classes, clinics, streaming, film/video sync, etc.), please reach out for licensing assistance via the contacts listed on the site.
